CHRISTMAS CONCERT
A festive concert dedicated to the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ took place at the St. Joseph of Optina Russian Orthodox Church, ROCOR in Norfolk, VA on January 9.
Christmas concert started with a common prayer led by the rector of the church, Father Sergiy.
He also addressed the audience with congratulations and good wishes. The sisterhood arranged a fine table for all the guests.
The festive performance began with the Troparion, the Kontakion and the Exaltation of the feast of the Nativity of Jesus Christ. Then Christmas carols in different languages were performed by the church choir and the folk choir “Tunes of Russia”.
The concert participants presented many interesting and joyful moments to the audience. The children of the parish congratulated everyone in Christmas poems. The traditional scene of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ was also held with the participation of children and adults. The conclusion of the concert was the performance of songs and carols sang together with the guests, accompanied by a piano, violin, guitar, and bells.
“Colorful decorations, bright costumes of all artists, an elegant Christmas tree and a festive table created a pleasant and magical atmosphere,” the guests noted.
The concert was held in a warm and family like atmosphere, giving everyone joy, love and light. It ended with the presentation of Christmas gifts.
